In honor of National Hat Day today.
My new cool hat company : Head’n Home
A note from the creator:
Greetings hat lovers. My name is Gary Watrous and I started this adventure called Head ‘N Home in the early 1970’s. With an investment of $20 in leather and $20 in leather working tools I began making belts, wallets, and purses and selling them from the back of my 1963 Chevy station wagon. I must have been doing something right as my “artwork” was received with a rewarding enthusiasm. Sometime in the mid 70’s, I created a leather hat for my own wear, loved it, and never looked back. Hats quickly became my sole artistic focus and calling. Mostly self taught while learning in the “schooI of hard knocks”, I have also had the good fortune to have had tremendous support and advice from many talented hat professionals and knowledgeable individuals over the years.
I have also had the good fortune to have a creative and supportive family, many of whom have chosen to join me as the demand for my handmade hat designs has grown.

For August Getty, fashion runs in the family. Flanked by his sister and muse, Natalia, and their mother, Ariadne, of the Getty Oil dynasty, the self-taught, 20-year-old designer followed his September debut at New York Fashion Week with an intimate dinner party in Los Angeles preview for fashion stylists and press. I had the honor to attend and check out the amazing clothes and watch the NY runway show. The food was amazing on top of all that! Such a lovely evening.
Friends of the Getty trio — including Tyra Banks and beau Erik Asia, Jeannie Mai, Cameron Silver and Taylor Spreitler — convened atop the Montage Beverly Hills, where four looks from August’s 25-piece spring 2015 collection were on poolside display.
Kelly Cutrone of People’s Revolution is the best fashion PR to represent this amazing designer’s collection. I can’t wait to pull from the collection for my next editorial or red carpet job!

Mary Katrantzou : Resort 2015
Mary Katrantzou was born in Athens in 1983, to an interior designer mother and a father who worked in textile design. Having developed an appreciation of applied design from an early age, she moved to America to study for a BA in Architecture at the Rhode Island school of design, before transferring to Central Saint Martins to complete her BA degree in textile design. Graduating from her BA in 2005, Katrantzou shifted her direction from textile design to womenswear with a focus on print. When studying at Central Saint Martin’s, she became interested in the way that printed textiles can change the shape of a woman’s body and went on to graduate in MA Fashion from Central Saint Martins with distinction.
